Triathlon England is able to ofer British Triathlon Federation (BTF) coaching awards at levels 1, 2 and 3.

British Triathlon and the UKCC

Out of 31 sports who applied, we have been selected as one of the first sports to be supported through this process to implement the UKCC (UK Coaching Certificate). This has attracted additional government funding to ensure we can meet the targets established for this project. This funding has been allocated specifically for qualification and course development and will allow British Triathlon to design courses with high quality content, resources and delivery methods.
We will be in a position to deliver an accredited five level coaching system by the end of 2006. The courses that we currently have on offer are mapped to the National Occupational Standards and the qualification criteria established by the UKCC at each level. This will ensure that there will be comparability across sports coaching qualifications and raise the profile and professionalism of sports coaching in the UK.

Accredited prior learning

We operate an APL policy based upon the learning criteria for the award(s) you wish to bypass. Upon application you will be supplied with the learning criteria for the award in question and suggested evidence of competence in the areas detailed within the learning criteria.
A fee of 40 is required with each fast-track submission. This process has been reviewed in the past few years and the standards are now very high. Candidates must be able to prove competence in all areas. This generally requires a coaching (not teaching or instructing) award from at least two of the component sports (UK Athletics, Amateur Swimming Association, British Cycling) and documented experience in the other sport. If you have coaching certification from another country we are able to work through the course content to establish the suitable entry point into the British Triathlon Coach education system.
